Women Lift Prayers Up For The City

Aug 7, 2025

More than 120 women from churches all around the region assembled last night for food, fellowship, and prayer at Encounter Ministry.

To get things kicked off in a tasty manner the men of Encounter Ministry (including one young man) served up a barbecue for the ladies featuring smoked tri-tip, pork shoulder, and macaroni and cheese.

After a fine meal and the requisite robust conversations, the women entered into an evening of vibrant worship.

The music was led by Greg and Mia Carr who are always generous with their time and talents for Encounter Ministry events.

The worship was powerful and with teary eyes and arms raised, the unified song of gratitude and glory of God echoed through the building and spilled out to the community.

Next up was a time of deep prayer for the upcoming Reno-Tahoe CityFest and for a call for revival to break out in our city.

At one point the blinds were lifted from the windows and facing the beautiful mountains in the distance the women prayed for the lost in our community to discover the deep hope God offers to all.

It was a precious moment and highlight of the evening.

During the event, and certainly now, women were encouraged to co-host or host tables for “Stories of Hope” an outreach event for women on Tuesday, August 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Reno Sparks Convention Center.

It was an evening to remember.

Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped to make it happen.
